Mount Finch & Yallambie Schools
Mount Finch opened as a half-time school with Dairy Arm in May 1885, the school closed in 1893. This school must have only had a small enrolment during its brief history; the enrolment probably did not exceed fifteen pupils.
MOUNT FINCH SUBSIDISED SCHOOL The school in Murrays Run known as Mount Finch Subsidised School was owned and provided by James Sternbeck, so that his 6 grandchildren could be given an education. The families who had children attending the school were Nichols, Lemington, Hersel, Christian, Lindsay and Ivy, there were 4 Baileys - Gloria, William, Arthur and Bently who boarded full time and Linda, Bert, Jean, Clem and Thelma Thompson. The teachers of Mount Finch were Connie Collins, Doris Graham, Alma Bogus, Jean Strachan, Eileen Thompson, Iris Thompson and Doreen Bowditch. Photographs 1. Mt.
