John and Margaret Heaslip - bounty immigrants - arrived 1842 from Co. Cavan in Ireland. Settled in Millers Forest area. Buried Raymond Terrace Heritage cemetery. Interested in connecting with any descendants.

Hello Patricia, I am not sure about your Heaslip family but I have a GGG/Grandmother who was a Heaslip and also came from the Parish Of Bailieborough County Carvan Ireland
Lavinia (Lovey) Heaslip came to Australia on the Albatross on 30/11/1841 - under the protection of her uncle Richard Haslip. She was in very good health, could read, and was a Protestant. The name spelt Heslip on Henry's marriage record.
She resided at Hexham NSW Australia and is buried at Raymond Terrace - no headstone, aged 72years.

I think there must be a connection...do you agree. Will wait to hear from you.. Regards Lyn

Hi Lyn,

My gg grandfather, Allan Richard Cheers married Lavinia Heaslip at Dungog on 13 Sept 1842. Lavinia was born on 29 April 1823 at Bailieborough, County Cavan. She died 17 July 1895 at Raymond Terrace, NSW. (Lavinia Cheers)

Lavinia's parents were John Heaslip and Jane Dwyer. Lavinia came to Australia with her uncle Robert and his wife, Margaret Heaslip and cousin, Catherine. They came on the 'Albatross' on 30 Nov 1841. Lavinia (Livinia on ship's indent) was C/E, a farm servant and she was able to read.

Robert and Margaret Heaslip also had 4 children between the ages of 18 months and 9 years.

Hope this is helpful.
