St. Matthew's Church of England Windsor

Postby Barbaras Daughter on Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:16 pm

Hi all,

I'm after a bit of local knowledge about St. Matthew's Church of England Windsor please? I have some info. that says one of my rellies who died in 1873 was buried at St. Matthew's Church of England Windsor. My question is this: does anyone know if there was/is a burial ground within the church grounds? I'm starting to wonder if possibly the church service was held at St. Matthews and she was buried elsewhere. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Happy hunting!

Just in case you didn't pick up on it, there is the Catholic and the Church of England (Anglican) in Windsor, both are named St Mathews.

I have a few buried in the CoE

The Presbyterian Church at Windsor was also St Mattthew's.
St Matthew was a popular Apostle in Windsor.

Hi Barry, Margaret & Sylvia,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to thank you for your trouble but I've got something incorrectly set so that I'm not receiving an email to let me know that someone has replied (I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I've done :-? ). Anyway, the long & the short of it is that I checked your boards today & guess what? There were your replies waiting for me! :D So thank you all very much. I'll head off now & see what wonderful info you've been able to dig up for me.

Cheers,
Michelle
